salad

i was cutting the camote tops one night when dad asked me kung ano daw ba ang gagawin ko sa camote tops. i told him, i'll make a salad. daddy asked me how....(parang board exams like? me how na tanung??) so i told him magpapakulo ako ng water then kapag kumulo na yung water i'll blanch the leaves. kala ko naman tama ako.....mali pala. dad told me na mawawala daw ang nutrients pag blanching kaya he taught me how to make ensaladang camote, malacanang style! hahaha

here's for sharing...

- wash first the leaves to remove dirt, et al
- you can use baking soda in removing the dirt. just let the leaves stay in water with baking soda for awhile before you rinse it
- you can also use vinegar in removing dirt. same procedure with the baking soda. rinse after.

after rinsing, place the leaves in a pan. be sure it's water free.
add salt to taste.
cover. fire should be in low heat.
stir the leaves occasionally. put back the cover after stirring.
you can get the leaves once they are limp and water appears. 
top it with onions, (tomatoes if you want), ginger
and kalamansi  juice
and there you go!

after i tasted it, i told daddy that he's a good cook!
he gave me such a big smile!
